ICAMS DEBUTED WITH FREE LIVE VIDEO BROADCASTING

Icams.com , a free online service that features live video broadcasting and a chance for members to earn cash just for chatting, launched yesterday, January 24th. Icams.com offers filmmakers, bands and just Joe or Jane Everyman a chance to make money online from webcasts.

Icams.com is a product of PPM Technology Group, Inc., a Palo Alto-based technology startup company. It features unlimited bandwidth and storage of photos and videos, advanced search capabilities and unique distribution and payment systems. As part of the launch program Icams.com will pay members up to $2 an hour just for turning on their webcams and chatting online, with the payout growing as the number of people in the chat room increases.

In another unique twist, Icams.com lets bands, comedians, singers and other entertainers charge a per minute fee to members to watch their webcasts.

The service has already proven to be popular; in a one-month soft-launch beta test format PPM Technology Group signed up 2,000-3,000 registered users daily. An embedded payment system allows users to store funds on the site for use when they access paid content.

“We expect Icams.com will become one of the biggest live internet broadcasting communities on the web as people learn that they can actually make money through our pay-per-view model,” according to Lars Mapstead, Director of Marketing of PPM Technology Group. “Our content will go way beyond home videos in terms of quality and yet it is very accessible and fun to watch. But because people can get paid for their videos, if they choose to charge, we are offer a compelling advantage over YouTube, MySpace and other networking sites with which we are competing.”

“Icams.com members can broadcast using their own webcams, record their own videos, browse other members’ profiles and build networks of friends for fun, profit or for both,” said Mr. Mapstead. “Its special features allow you to maintain and share a video journal and show others your special talents. Members can access content at any time, using the full range of web browsers and operating systems such as Windows, Mac and Linux to upload pre-recorded music, photos and videos to their Icams.com pages. Icams will not permit the broadcast of copyrighted material, nude or other content that may be illegal or violate the company’s terms of service.
